It' Just a Dog
From time to time people tell
me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "That's a
lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the
distance traveled, the time spent or the costs involved for "just
a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just
a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just
a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my
saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog,"
and, in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a
dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will
probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just
a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog"
brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and
pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the
compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because
of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and
look longingly to the future.
So for me, and folks
like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of
all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the
past and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog"
brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from
myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday
they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the
thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just
a human."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just
a dog." just smile....because they "just don't
understand."

Dear
Aircraf' Shopper,
Growin' up as ah did, in the
mountains of Wess ole Virginny, ah was surroun'ed by varmints who
had li'l in th' way of earthly wealth. Howevah, menny were rich in
spirit an' chareecker. Their net wo'th expressed itse'f in
old-fashioned wo'ds, sech as integrity an' hono', rather than
tradishunal numbers. They believed thet yer wo'd was a corntrack
mo'e bindin' than enny on paper, an' they slepp th' sleep of th'
jest in unlocked homes.
In th' years thet haf passed on
account o' then, so much in th' wo'ld has changed, cuss it all t'
tarnation. Th' speed at which we live seems t'increase daily. Our
front po'ches haf disappeared an' most of us doesn't knows our
neighbo's. Cyber scams, virtual TV an' talk shows make us feel thet
we've somehow been transpo'ted
t't'other
planet while sleepin'. Our faif in th' innate fineness of hoomin
bein's has diminished o' disappeared, cuss it all t' tarnation.
All of this hyar has affecked us, an' one result is thet th'
business of doin' business is much mo'e difficult. It's hard t'knows
whut to trest an' in whom yo' kin believe. Th' larger an' th' mo'e
impo'tant th' transackshun, th' higher th' stress it seems
t'junerate.
It is mah cornvickshun thet in today's wo'ld,
th' values of yessuhterday are vital, ah reckon. ah have see nothin'
in mah life, no' in th' 40 years in which I've been in aviashun,
t'convince me thet bein' dishoness o' untrestwo'thy is a fine idea.
I've had no experience thet cuzd me t'reckon thet bein' untruthful
t'cestomers is a great foun'ashun on which t'build a business.
Thar
is neifer sale no' enny business transackshun impo'tant inough t'cuz
me t'aban'on the lessons of thet time so long ago.
Eff'n yer interested in
buyin' an airplane, sellin' an airplane, o' findin' someone t'he'p
yo' sell yer airplane, please gimme a call, ah reckon. ah promise
t'do mah mighty bess fo' yo'.
